When people arrived in Tang County, the first thing they would hear about was the legendary figure Song Ye, and no matter what was said about him, there would always be one woman who came up in conversation.
Once many people learned about the couple’s backgrounds and how they had developed from the beginning until now, most of them still admired Song Ye and instead felt that Tang Guo had simply benefited from his success.
This kind of perception made Song Ye uncomfortable. What they didn’t know was that Tang County’s development owed just as much to his wife’s efforts as to his own.
Take the factories he managed, the companies, the chicken farms in the mountains. Every plan had traces of Guo Guo’s contributions.
Why did people all think that Guo Guo was merely riding his coattails?
“What’s there to be upset about? Let them say what they want,” Tang Guo didn’t care about such things. As long as they didn’t direct it at her, she couldn’t be bothered. But if they did, then she wouldn’t be polite.
This world was peaceful to the point of being unbelievable. From the beginning, it had been warm and beautiful. Whether it was family or love, everything was perfect. After traveling through so many worlds, this was the most relaxing one.
She didn’t know what the next world would be like, so she especially cherished this calm and comfortable life.
Song Ye pressed his forehead to hers and said, “But I don’t want anyone to slander Guo Guo. Just hearing one word against you makes me uncomfortable.”
“Director Song’s skill at saying sweet words has improved.”
Song Ye chuckled. His Guo Guo was still as adorable as ever, which only made him want to protect her more and never let her suffer even the slightest grievance.
Tang Guo originally thought those people were just talking. Everyone had a mouth and she couldn’t control them. She really didn’t expect that even in this era, there would still be such shameless people.
One day, Song Ye went out alone, and a graduate student who had studied abroad and later chose to work in Tang County came to visit her home. She specifically asked to see her, not Song Ye.
At first, Tang Guo was puzzled. What business could she have with her?
The graduate was a very beautiful woman, two years older than her, the same age as Song Ye. She dressed stylishly and had permed hair, the most fashionable look of the time.
In short, she had an intellectual appearance and looked clearly like a cultured woman.
“Miss Tang, hello. Sorry to visit so abruptly, I hope I’m not disturbing you?”
Tang Guo replied calmly, “No.” Since coming here, this was the first time anyone had called her Miss Tang.
That kind of address really felt a bit odd in this time period.
Normally, people in the village who were closer to her called her Village Flower Tang. Those who were more distant or older just called her by name. People from outside mostly called her Mrs. Song.
Being called Miss Tang by the graduate caught her off guard. There was also a natural sense of superiority in the way the woman looked at her.
If she wasn’t mistaken, that’s exactly what it was.
She had someone make tea, then sat off to the side without asking the other woman’s reason for coming, and began knitting. In the village, everyone was used to it. When women chatted, wasn’t it always while knitting?
Graduate or not, when in Rome, do as the Romans do. Understand?
System: This host is really down-to-earth.
Xin Ziyue, the graduate, gave a faint smirk when she saw Tang Guo’s actions. As expected, a village woman. Always either gossiping or knitting and doing chores.
But seeing Tang Guo’s fair hands and beautiful face, she was somewhat speechless. Even though she was a village woman, she looked better maintained than her.
