Transmigrated Canon Fodder, Please Calm Down! Chapter 615

Xie Shijun looked at Chen Ying’s back as she walked away without turning around, then turned and went home himself.

When he got home, he saw Xu Qiulan playing with the grandchildren, and his expression softened a little.

Xu Qiulan saw that Xie Shijun had returned and smiled as she asked, “Where’s Yingzi? Why didn’t she come back with you?”

At the mention of Chen Ying, Xie Shijun’s face darkened, and Xu Qiulan immediately sensed that something had happened. Her son usually had a good temper, so did the couple have a fight?

“What’s wrong?”

Xu Qiulan was planning to persuade her son to be more understanding toward Chen Ying. She had lost her husband early and raised three children on her own, so she deeply understood how hard it was for women.

But after hearing Xie Shijun describe what had happened in the private room, Xu Qiulan couldn’t bring herself to say those words of persuasion.

“What’s going on with Yingzi?” Xu Qiulan muttered, “I’ve never heard of her having any conflict with Tang Guo before.”

“Every time I mentioned Director Song before, Yingzi would say some unpleasant things,” Xie Shijun said as he ushered the two children outside and pulled Xu Qiulan into the room. “Mom, do you think something happened between Yingzi and Director Song? Back when you were still in the village, did you ever hear anything?”

“Bah, don’t talk nonsense. With Director Song’s character, there’s no way he would get involved with Yingzi,” Xu Qiulan said, then suddenly remembered something. “But there was a rumor back then, about Yingzi’s younger sister, Chen Fangfang. You remember her, right?”

Xie Shijun nodded. There was even an incident involving him at the time, and the Chen family had been utterly humiliated.

“Chen Fangfang mentioned more than once that Yingzi secretly gave Director Song eggs, but it seemed Director Song rejected them all,” Xu Qiulan recalled, her face turning sour. “Could it be that it was actually true?”

If that were the case, it would make sense for Chen Ying to be hostile toward Song Ye. A man she tried to please but couldn’t win over, who now had great success and such a good relationship with Tang Guo. Chen Ying’s jealousy and resentment toward Song Ye would be understandable.

The mother and son fell silent until Xie Shijun finally said, “Forget it, Mom. Let’s not talk about this anymore.”

“Sigh…” Xu Qiulan understood too. This wasn’t something that could be brought up, especially not in front of Chen Ying. If it was mentioned, who knows what kind of conflict it might stir up. For the sake of family harmony, no matter how uncomfortable it felt, it was better not to mention it.

Xie Shijun went into his room and saw that Chen Ying still hadn’t returned. Remembering what Xu Qiulan had said earlier, he felt uneasy. From the looks of it, Chen Ying must have liked Song Ye in the past, but Song Ye hadn’t responded.

No wonder… no wonder the way Yingzi looked at him never had the love he imagined.

And after he left the military, she became so cold toward him.

Could it be that her eagerness to marry him back then was just a way to show Song Ye that she could marry someone better?

Now seeing Song Ye’s success, her heart became imbalanced. Then hearing that his new job was all thanks to Song Ye’s help, how could a proud woman like Yingzi accept that?

When others talked about Tang Guo and Song Ye, her first reaction was to wonder if the two of them had fallen out.

Just how much did she hope that Song Ye and Tang Guo were not doing well? Xie Shijun didn’t want to maliciously speculate about his wife, but this woman had been by his side for so long, he understood her to some extent.

Based on what Xu Qiulan said, he had already guessed most of it. In any case, he felt uneasy and a little hurt.
