“You may all withdraw. If there is nothing important, do not come to see this prince.”
Shan Ge and Yin Qiu’s expressions changed immediately. Even though they did not like Tang Nuoyue, she was now humiliating them like this for Xiao Jin, a hostage prince.
How could they possibly still have any goodwill toward Xiao Jin? At that moment, the way the two of them looked at him was like knives.
Xiao Jin also felt a headache coming on. His original plan had been to first infiltrate Prince Yue’s residence and form an alliance with the two people around Prince Yue.
After all, he had investigated them. The two were very dissatisfied with Prince Yue, and it would be very easy to win them over to his side.
Then, together with the two people in the palace, using Tang Nuoyue’s identity, they could oppose the Empress in a justified manner.
He had never expected that because Tang Nuoyue had something wrong with her mind, she would leave such a bad impression on them. Getting those two to trust him would likely take a lot of effort.
Tang Nuoyue sensed Xiao Jin’s thoughts and sneered inwardly. Getting along harmoniously, what a dream.
What she wanted was to sit in the residence and watch the men fight. The more fiercely they fought, the happier she would be.
She had learned all of this from them.
“Then Shan Ge will take his leave.”
“Yin Qiu will also take his leave.”
As the two left, they did not forget to cast a cold glance at Xiao Jin, giving him a big headache.
After they left, Tang Nuoyue hugged Xiao Jin’s arm and smiled happily. “Xiao Jin, don’t worry. I won’t like them. The one I like the most is you.”
Xiao Jin took a deep breath and touched Tang Nuoyue’s cheek. “Mm.” He felt troubled inside. What should he do next?
Shan Ge and Yin Qiu’s hostility toward him was currently very strong. It seemed he would still have to use Tang Nuoyue’s identity to enter the palace and discuss matters with those two.
Seeing that nothing interesting would happen here, Tang Guo closed her eyes and fell asleep.
With the system keeping watch, there would be no problems. And in the imperial consort’s palace, she believed nothing would go wrong.
By the time Jing Cheng finished practicing his sword, he finally learned that the Empress had come.
He put away his sword and asked, “Why was I not informed earlier?”
“It was Her Majesty’s order not to disturb the imperial consort while practicing swordsmanship.”
Jing Cheng immediately recalled the Empress smiling brightly at him, her eyes curved with amusement. His heart suddenly began to beat faster.
He carried the sword into the room, quickly bathed, changed into clean clothes, and let the palace attendants lead him to the garden.
As he entered the garden, he saw the woman resting with her eyes closed beside the flowers. In that instant, he stopped in his tracks.
When he came back to his senses, he walked over lightly, making no sound at all, as if afraid of disturbing the person who was sleeping.
“Your Maj…” A palace attendant saw him and was about to salute, but he quickly raised his hand to stop them.
The attendant also did not want to disturb Tang Guo, so they only bent their knees slightly and said nothing.
Jing Cheng quietly sat on the stone stool. At first, he intended to look at the flowers in the garden, but as he looked, he could not help glancing toward the person beside the flowers. With that glance, he became entranced.
Her sleeping appearance carried a slight smile at the corners of her lips, clearly showing she was having a beautiful dream.
The Empress in sleep was truly quiet and looked very harmless.
He could not help recalling how she was serious when facing others, yet smiling gently when facing him.
So which side was the real Empress?
He took a sip of tea, yet his gaze still did not move away. At that very moment, Tang Guo opened her eyes, startling him so much that he almost dropped his teacup.
Fortunately, his martial skills were good, and he quickly steadied it.
But when he met those beautiful eyes, filled with a bit of confusion and a misty haze, her gaze toward him was extremely dazed. It seemed she had not noticed that he had been watching her so intently just moments before.
