Song Miao believed that her previous life had been rather difficult. Her family was poor, and her parents could not provide her with a comfortable life. The clothes she wore were the simplest in the entire school, and she ate what was likely the cheapest food in the cafeteria.
Even so, she had relied on her own efforts all the way, earning scholarships and entering a key university. However, after meeting Qin Fen, that rich second generation heir, in university, Song Miao felt that her life had been ruined by him.
At that time, she had been young and ignorant. She thought that someone as handsome and wealthy as Qin Fen truly wanted to date her, and she foolishly threw herself into it. She had no idea he was only playing around. Pitifully, she had devoted herself completely.
Still, heaven had eyes. Who told Qin Fen to go street racing himself? In the end, both car and driver were destroyed. Song Miao curled her lips in amusement, her gaze dark.
If there was one thing she regretted most in her previous life, it was not cherishing Jiang Yuhui properly. After Qin Fen died in the accident, his parents somehow traced it back and discovered that Jiang Xiaobao was Qin Fen’s son. They came to take the child.
Back then, she had also coveted the Qin family’s wealth and divorced Jiang Yuhui without hesitation. The Jiang family’s life could only be considered well off. It was far from comparable to the wealthy Qin family.
Another reason she divorced Jiang Yuhui was that she could no longer have children. She had always had a weak constitution, and after giving birth to Jiang Xiaobao, she was unable to conceive again.
Under such circumstances, if she did not hold tightly to Jiang Xiaobao, was she supposed to rely on Jiang Yuhui? Song Miao’s calculations were quite shrewd. Holding Jiang Xiaobao, she left the Jiang family without looking back.
Unfortunately, her life in the Qin family was not good. The Qin elders valued Jiang Xiaobao, not her as his mother. Besides, Qin Fen had broken up with her years earlier, and there had never been much genuine affection.
Jiang Xiaobao was usually raised by the Qin elders and did not see her often. The elders were generous with money, and Song Miao truly lived a life of extravagance.
She also lived wildly, having quite a few boyfriends. The Qin elders did not interfere and allowed her to indulge outside. Qin Tao had originally been rather attached to her, but after seeing her unrestrained private life, he gradually reduced contact with her.
After Qin Tao graduated from university, he entered the company and took over his grandfather’s business. The relationship between mother and son became very distant. Song Miao knew that Qin Tao resented her. On the surface, they only maintained basic civility.
Later, she fell seriously ill. No one came to visit her, and she eventually died in the hospital. During that time, she often thought of the past and of Jiang Yuhui, who had once devoted himself wholeheartedly to her.
She heard that he had developed depression early on and passed away. When she learned of that news, she felt deeply unsettled. She knew the main reason lay with her. If she had not done such heartless things, she would not have caused Jiang Yuhui such severe harm.
But at that time, she felt she had no choice. If she had not acted that way, her life would have been completely ruined. If Qin Fen had not ruined her life first, would she have used Jiang Yuhui as someone to take over the mess?
Later, when she attended social gatherings with wealthy ladies, they would always mock her, openly or subtly, for having been married before. At those moments, she often thought that it would be better if the Jiang family no longer lived in that city.
That was why she asked the Qin family to suppress the Jiang family’s company, forcing them to leave the city. Later she felt relieved, but her relationship with Qin Tao became completely cold.
The Qin elders had never concealed Qin Tao’s background from him. Qin Tao also had some impression of Jiang Yuhui. In his memory, Jiang Yuhui had treated him extremely well and always thought of him.
When Song Miao retaliated against the Jiang family, she struck at Qin Tao’s most sensitive point. Was that not the typical behavior of an ungrateful person repaying kindness with resentment? Therefore, when Song Miao was hospitalized, Qin Tao only settled the medical bills and hired a caregiver. He did not concern himself with anything else.
Now that she had opened her eyes again and returned to her high school days, Song Miao both cried and laughed. She cried because she would have to endure several more years of scraping by. She laughed because in this life she could properly make up for the mistakes she had committed.
The person she felt most sorry toward was Jiang Yuhui. That was why, on the very first day of registration, she thought about starting to cultivate her relationship with Jiang Yuhui from high school. In this life, she would absolutely not have any involvement with Qin Fen. As for children, she would only have them with Jiang Yuhui.
The later part of her previous life had been filled with luxury and indulgence, but the more extravagant her life became, the more empty she felt inside. She still missed the plain and warm life she had once shared with Jiang Yuhui.
That was how the earlier seat inquiry came about.
What surprised Song Miao was that Jiang Yuhui showed her no courtesy at all. That should not have happened. In her previous life, Jiang Yuhui had liked her deeply and had even fallen into depression. Why, after starting over, was he so cold toward her?
Song Miao sat in her seat, occasionally casting covert glances at Jiang Yuhui, who was now Jiang Chan. The more she looked, the more astonished she felt. The clean young man sat by the window, his entire being exuding a scholarly aura, refined and elegant.
This was completely different from the Jiang Yuhui in her memory. This Jiang Yuhui looked like a pearl that had been wiped clean of dust, radiating a gentle glow.
Song Miao felt a little flustered, suddenly sensing that things were slipping beyond her control. She bit her lip and forcibly steadied herself, no longer looking at Jiang Yuhui.
Jiang Chan naturally noticed Song Miao’s overt and covert glances. Song Miao coming over to greet her had been quite unexpected. In the original owner’s memories, Song Miao had almost never liked him. Why was she acting this way now?
Thinking of what Qingyuan had said about tasks becoming increasingly complex, Jiang Chan suddenly understood something. It seemed that this variable likely lay with Song Miao.
Jiang Chan curled her lips in amusement. The direction of events was becoming more and more interesting. The original owner’s task was to stay away from Song Miao and cherish life. Yet now Song Miao was continuously drawing closer. This task might not be so easy after all.
No matter what, retreating without a fight was not Jiang Chan’s style. She had originally planned to live on campus during high school, but now that would not work. It would be best to avoid Song Miao completely.
Commuting from home became a good excuse. While reading, Jiang Chan pondered this matter in her mind. By the time she finished a page, she had roughly determined her next course of action.
She would definitely participate in the competitions. Besides preparing for the robotics competition required by the original owner, Jiang Chan also wanted to go through the physics, mathematics, biology, and chemistry competitions as well. The results did not matter much. The main purpose was to accumulate experience.
