Even with his back to Tang Guo, Feng Yu could still feel her focused gaze.
When those beautiful eyes looked at him so seriously, it was impossible to ignore.
Feng Yu did not dare turn around. He was afraid that if he did, he would not be able to go through with it. Thinking of what he was about to do, he quickly drove all the chaotic thoughts out of his mind and focused intently on installing the game and debugging the gaming pod.
Half an hour later, he let out a long breath and stood up. “It is ready.” He turned around and looked at Tang Guo, who was sitting on the chair with her chin propped up, smiling at him. The way she smiled was so clean and pure.
For a brief moment, Feng Yu wanted to rush out the door, but he touched the other USB drive in his pocket and endured it.
“It can be used now,” he said again. There was a slight tremble between his lips and teeth, and his hands were shaking as well. He did not know what was wrong with him, but things had already reached this point and had to continue.
“Is it ready?”
Tang Guo stood up from the chair and walked over to the gaming pod to take a look. “Ah Yu, you are amazing. Can I try it now?”
“Mhm.” Feng Yu felt that even responding with this single syllable was unbearably heavy. He shifted his gaze elsewhere and did not look at her face.
Tang Guo looked at him with a smiling expression and called out, “Ah Yu.”
“What is it?” Feng Yu turned his head subconsciously and met a pair of eyes filled with affection. “In a few days it will be your birthday. I prepared a birthday gift for you. It will be delivered directly to your company, so do not forget to sign for it when the time comes.”
“Alright.”
“That day, it would be best if you got off work a bit earlier. We can go out to dinner together in the evening.” Tang Guo stepped into the gaming pod. As she lay down, she still smiled at him and said, “Next month, I will take you home to meet my parents. They asked about you before, and I told them about you. They are all happy for me, for finding such an impressive boyfriend. They even teased me, saying I finally found someone who suits me.”
Feng Yu stood there in a daze, not knowing how to respond. Tang Guo had already lain down inside the gaming pod. She blinked at him and said, “Then I am going to become the first person to experience a full immersion game. Ah Yu, see you in a bit.”
Feng Yu opened his mouth, feeling a bit of pain in his heart. She would never know that they would not see each other in a bit. At the moment he saw Tang Guo close her eyes, Feng Yu felt it hard to breathe.
He stood there hesitating for five minutes. Gritting his teeth, he finally pressed a hidden button on the outside of the gaming pod. This button could activate a certain program that would bind Tang Guo’s brain waves.
He looked at the display on the computer beside him and felt an intense discomfort in his heart. There was a hot sensation that wanted to rush out of his eyes. However, his expression was stern. Aside from being a little pale, it was as if nothing had happened.
With trembling hands, he connected the USB drive containing Xia Yi’s brain waves to the gaming pod. He looked cold and heartless, yet no one knew that he was on the verge of suffocation. Reviving Xia Yi had been his wish for many years. This experiment also represented a new beginning. No matter what, he had to carry it through.
After confirming that Xia Yi’s brain waves had been implanted into Tang Guo’s brain, he glanced at a red button on the gaming pod. As long as he pressed it, Tang Guo’s brain waves would be expelled from her brain and bound to that special program.
At this moment, Tang Guo lying in the gaming pod saw Feng Yu’s expression clearly.
The system asked with concern, [Host, do you feel any discomfort?]
“No, I feel fine.”
