When Tang Guo “woke up,” she was already on a beast-drawn carriage. The Mata Kingdom beastmen around her all stared wide-eyed when they saw her open her eyes.
She smiled brightly and asked, “How long will it take to reach the Mata Kingdom?” She was already impatient to arrive and take the place over.
The king of the Mata Kingdom, Lari, was an extremely cruel beastman. She definitely was not going to let him live. Her plan was to kill Lari as soon as she arrived.
Doing things in the Mata Kingdom would not require her to hold back. She could finally act freely.
This time, however, she did not plan to become the king of the Mata Kingdom. She had heard that there was a profession in the beastman world that was especially respected, a Sage. As the name implied, only beastmen with extraordinary wisdom could be honored with that title.
She figured she could be a Sage.
Her carriage was pulled by two wild horses. Riding one of the horses was a burly beastman, the strongest warrior of the Mata Kingdom and one of Lari’s lackeys. He was also the one who would later discover that Ah Guoguo was not Ning Luo and throw her to those brutal beastmen.
So this man could not be allowed to live either.
She needed to choose someone who had no grudge against her, who was obedient and easy to control, and ideally someone who also hated Lari.
She reviewed the plot in her mind and quickly found the perfect candidate. Xili, Lari’s younger brother. He had long been suppressed by Lari and even driven out of the royal palace. He was currently living in poverty. Even so, Xili had not given up and was secretly building his own power.
In the original plot, the Mata Kingdom later fell into chaos. It was precisely because of that turmoil that Ning Luo and her mates were able to defeat the powerful Mata Kingdom and seize its territory, eventually establishing a new beastman kingdom.
“There are still three days to go,” one beastman answered her. “Behave yourself and do not try to run. Once you reach the Mata Kingdom, you will receive the best treatment. As long as you teach us what you know, the king will grant you noble status.”
Tang Guo chuckled softly and replied, “That sounds great. I would like to be a noble too. Living in caves every day in the Lado Tribe was really more than enough. I heard that the Mata Kingdom uses stone houses. Is that true?”
“That’s right. Our city is built entirely of stone. All the Mata Kingdom citizens live in stone houses. They are solid and durable. Even when the Beast Tide comes, the stone walls block it completely, so there is no danger at all. We also have Sages. No matter how fierce the Beast Tide is, the Sages will always find a way to deal with it.”
When talking about this, the Mata Kingdom beastman was full of pride and eagerly boasted to Tang Guo.
Before long, Tang Guo got along extremely well with the group. In the middle of the journey, she even cooked meat soup for them. After drinking it, the way they looked at her became increasingly fervent. Even the strongest warrior’s gaze toward her changed.
Perhaps because she showed no intention of escaping and got along with them so pleasantly, aside from the strongest warrior being somewhat cold toward her, the others were enthusiastic and considerate, treating her completely as one of their own. Whatever she asked for, they gave her. This made the strongest warrior frown repeatedly, but in the end, perhaps deciding that she posed no threat, he did not interfere.
Soon, Tang Guo arrived at the Mata Kingdom.
Seeing rows upon rows of stone-built houses, she found it rather novel.
The higher a beastman’s status, the better and sturdier the stone used for their dwelling. The royal palace in particular was surprisingly beautiful, carved with various patterns of beastmen in their original forms. It looked ancient and elegant at the same time.
