The whole tribe was busy. Yin Yao had very few belongings, and with his exalted status, Black Wolf specially sent two warriors to help him move.
When he came to Tang Guo’s dwelling, he saw her sitting at the entrance of the cave with Aoli, chatting and laughing happily.
“Aoli is back?”
Yin Yao had heard Tang Guo say that Aoli gave up on Gaien and went to other tribes to find strong males. Seeing Aoli’s joyful face, she must have found them.
Then he heard movement from inside the cave, and soon after saw Mike carrying a pile of things out. When Mike saw Yin Yao, he froze. Aoli quickly said, “This is our High Priest.”
“High Priest.”
“This is Mike, my mate,” Aoli said with a radiant smile. “I asked Mike to come help Ah Guoguo. She doesn’t have a mate, and she’s still so young. If there are too many things, she won’t be able to move them.”
“High Priest, don’t be fooled by Mike looking less strong than the other beastmen. He’s very strong and capable.” Aoli said proudly. Mike, who was placing the items on a wooden board, wore a silly, happy grin.
His Aoli is so cute.
Yin Yao nodded, walked into the cave, and after looking around for a while, he began helping Tang Guo pack her little snacks, dried fruit, dried meat… even pretty bone necklaces and the skirts she had made herself. He placed everything into a bag sewn from beast hide.
Aoli, who had been proudly showing off her mate, was stunned. Watching the exalted High Priest actually helping Tang Guo move her things, her eyes nearly popped out.
She opened her mouth wide, unable to believe what she was seeing. In the tribe, who would dare order the High Priest around?
In the tribe, who would dare make the High Priest do chores?
Even his own things had been moved by warriors arranged by the chief.
So, High Priest, what are you doing? Those are Ah Guoguo’s belongings. Did you move the wrong pile?
“Ah Guoguo, are you taking all of this with you?” This sentence hit Aoli like a heavy blow. The High Priest knew these were Ah Guoguo’s things and had come specifically to help her move them.
Heavens, she must be seeing things.
She bit her lip, tugged on Tang Guo’s sleeve, and whispered, “Ah Guoguo, why is the High Priest helping you move your things?”
Tang Guo nibbled on a piece of dried meat, smiling sweetly. “Because I haven’t come of age yet, my strength is small, and the High Priest took pity on me, so he came to help me. I was the one who discovered the cave yesterday, and hasn’t the High Priest always looked after me?”
Aoli blinked, then let go of her sleeve. That was true.
Ah Guoguo had lost her parents at a young age, and the High Priest had indeed taken special care of her. Every winter he would give Ah Guoguo many hides and share his food with her.
Aoli let out a sigh of relief. Right, Ah Guoguo was so small. The High Priest was just looking after her.
The High Priest was the highest figure in the tribe. He could heal their sicknesses and relieve their pain. Helping Ah Guoguo move her belongings really wasn’t such a big deal.
After convincing herself, Aoli wasn’t surprised anymore by what she saw Yin Yao do. Instead, she went back to talking with Tang Guo about what had happened in other tribes these past few days.
The pile of dried meat she had been carrying earlier was all good food she had brought back for Tang Guo, her best friend.
Very soon, Tang Guo’s belongings were moved to the new cave.
Since she was the one who discovered it, the tribe members believed she should have the privilege of choosing her spot first, chiseling out a small space to serve as her dwelling.
