“Barbecue.”
Tang Guo pointed at the pieces of meat on the rack. Inside the meat were spices, along with some other seasonings she had secretly added. On the other side, a pot of wild vegetable soup was cooking, with a piece of fatty meat added to keep it from tasting too bland.
Once the meat was tender, she would mix it into the wild vegetable soup. Paired with the barbeque, it would be absolutely delicious.
Yin Yao walked up to the rack for a closer look and said, “Ah Guoguo’s barbeque is different. There’s no burnt part at all.” There was a hint of appreciation in his eyes. He had barbeque before, and while his wasn’t as charred as other beastmen’s, it still didn’t look as appetizing as what was in front of him. This meat looked especially inviting and made him really want to eat it.
His own barbeque might look alright, but it tasted bad, dry and tough despite adding a bit of salt.
But this one before him gave him the feeling that it would be tender and easy to bite into.
Thinking of how he had been drinking Ah Guoguo’s meat soup every day without ever getting tired of it, he began to look forward to the taste of this barbeque.
Tang Guo noticed the expression on his face. Men always had a few weaknesses. Yin Yao might look aloof, but he was really just a closet romantic. Once he got used to her presence, he would slowly come to understand his own heart.
She really enjoyed this feeling of being in a budding romance. Thinking this, she flipped the meat on the rack and said, “High Priest, you can drink some wild vegetable soup first.”
Yin Yao glanced at the soup. He really wanted to taste it, but still said, “No rush, I’ll have it together with the meat.”
“Alright.” She curved her brows and eyes in a smile, looking so obedient as she focused on roasting the meat that Yin Yao couldn’t look away for a moment.
Soon, the meat was done.
Yin Yao looked at the golden-brown piece of meat lying in the dish, then saw Tang Guo already eating with great enjoyment, so he didn’t hold back.
The moment he bit down, his mouth was filled with rich flavor. It was so delicious that he nearly swallowed his tongue. The outside was crispy, the inside tender, and every bite was pure bliss.
Taking a sip of the wild vegetable soup afterward, Yin Yao found himself imagining living like this every day, eating such delicious food.
“High Priest, is it good?” Tang Guo asked with a smile.
Yin Yao swallowed the meat and praised, “It’s good.”
“Then eat more. There’s plenty.”
Yin Yao nodded, eating the barbeque and soup with his eyes half-closed, looking thoroughly content.
Tang Guo also found it especially tasty. In one of her worlds, she had been a chef. She loved delicious food and had traveled far and wide to learn every dish she could in pursuit of culinary perfection.
A little barbeque was nothing to her.
She glanced at Yin Yao’s satisfied expression and clicked her tongue. This man was too easy to please. Just a piece of barbeque was enough to achieve her goal.
“High Priest, would you like to eat something this delicious every day?”
Yin Yao glanced at Tang Guo, not sure what she meant, but who wouldn’t want such delicious food?
“Of course,” he replied.
Tang Guo smiled, took a sip of soup, and said, “The High Priest’s wish will come true.”
From those beautiful eyes, Yin Yao thought he saw a certain meaning. He responded with a quiet hum and lowered his head to keep eating. In the back of his mind, he wondered if this little female really meant what he thought she did.
He stole another glance at Tang Guo from the corner of his eye, but she was focused on her food, showing no expression. Eating such good food, Yin Yao found himself in conflict.
Actually, Ah Guoguo was quite cute.
She could make soup and barbeque.
Her smile was especially sweet, her voice soft and pleasant… As he thought of this, Yin Yao’s face stiffened slightly.
What was he thinking?
