Over the next few days, Ning Luo remained upset with Gaien, and during that time, Aimo often took the chance to approach her when Gaien wasn’t around.
Maybe what happened that day had a big impact on her. She didn’t dare get too close to Aimo.
But after several days passed, Aimo never got discouraged. He would sit nearby and chat with her, even telling her that he only wanted to be kind to her and had no intention of forcing anything, asking her not to ignore him.
Aimo looked honest and had a pitiful expression, which softened Ning Luo’s heart. She said, “Then… we’re just friends. I won’t become your mate.”
“Alright, we’re just friends.” Aimo might have noticed that Ning Luo wasn’t too happy and didn’t push her, which left a good impression on her.
Whenever Gaien went out, Aimo would visit if he had time and bring her all kinds of nice things. Ning Luo believed that since she had made it clear they could only be friends, their interactions were just between friends, and Aimo wouldn’t think otherwise.
So she accepted the gifts, and being with Aimo didn’t feel awkward anymore. She would even talk to him about how rough Gaien was. Looking at Aimo’s honest face, she even thought that if she had met Aimo first, he probably wouldn’t have treated her so harshly.
Tang Guo was happily teasing the reserved High Priest while keeping an eye on the drama between Ning Luo, Aimo, and Gaien. Life was pretty comfortable.
That day finally came when Ning Luo and Gaien went out together to gather edible herbs and seasonings. Aimo had wanted to go too, but he had to join the group going out to hunt, so he had to give it up with some regret.
At this point, Ning Luo still hadn’t managed to get Black Wolf’s attention. Even though some of the other female beastmen in the tribe wanted to stir up trouble around her, it wasn’t working.
If Aoli hadn’t been persuaded by Tang Guo to leave the tribe and look for a suitable mate elsewhere, the female beastmen would definitely be whispering in her ear about Ning Luo every single day.
It might not have been a big deal, but if someone hears the same thing every day, it starts to take root. A one-track mind like Aoli’s would surely believe what everyone said. Since Ning Luo had taken Gaien, Aoli would absolutely end up clashing with her.
Once Aoli died, they all started stirring up trouble around Ah Guoguo again. By that time, Black Wolf had already become very concerned about Ning Luo, completely forgetting that he had planned to wait until Ah Guoguo came of age.
Of course, for Ah Guoguo, whether Black Wolf waited or not didn’t matter. She didn’t like him, and he could like whoever he wanted.
But ever since Black Wolf started liking Ning Luo, whenever anything involving Ning Luo came up, he didn’t even think before taking her side.
“Ah Guoguo.”
Yin Yao’s voice sounded from behind her. This was his stone house, and Ah Guoguo often liked to sit outside and space out.
Thinking about how Gaien had been trying new ways every day to make Ning Luo smile, even the High Priest found it hard to watch.
Gaien was still the tribe’s second warrior. How could he roll around on the ground, stick out his tongue, wag his head and tail, just to please a female? It completely ruined the image of a warrior. If he had a mate in the future, there was no way he would behave like that.
“Ah Guoguo, do you care a lot about Gaien?”
Yin Yao couldn’t help asking. After all, Ah Guoguo had been watching Ning Luo and Gaien a lot lately.
Tang Guo turned her head and glanced at Yin Yao with a smile. “High Priest, why would you think I care about Gaien?”
“Then why do you keep watching him every day?” Yin Yao didn’t think there was anything wrong with asking that.
