As for Qi Yan, she never even appeared in the original owner’s memory, let alone her child’s birth. It could be said that Jiang Chan’s arrival completely turned everything upside down.
Jiang Yu and Qin Miao divorced within just a year. Jiang Yu remarried and had a biological child of his own. Jiang Siyu also reconnected with his birth father, and Jiang Lianyu stayed by Jiang Yu’s side.
Now, Qin Miao was truly all alone. Under such circumstances, it was only natural that she’d look for a second chance at love, especially since Jiang Yu had made it clear he wanted nothing to do with her anymore.
It’s fair to say that Jiang Chan’s butterfly effect was quite powerful. In fact, she hadn’t even been directly involved in most of the events that followed, just a small push from her had changed everything.
Of course, if Jiang Yu had found out that Jiang Siyu wasn’t his son and still chose to stay with Qin Miao, Jiang Chan would have had to come up with a different plan.
For now, things were developing just as she’d predicted. Jiang Chan turned over in bed, and sleep slowly crept in.
Even though she’d gone to sleep quite late the night before, Jiang Chan’s internal clock still woke her up on time. She rubbed her eyes. That’s the trouble with sleep deprivation, her eyes were practically glued shut.
After washing up and going downstairs, she accompanied the old man for a walk before setting off to pick up Zhao Bingyue.
The Lin family had a workspace for Liang Chen, but her proper studio was still in the city, not far from Kate’s. On the way to pick up Zhao Bingyue, Jiang Chan also picked up a tagalong: Li Yan.
She and Zhao Bingyue lived close to each other and had grown up together. After hearing last night that Zhao Bingyue was going to apply to be Liang Chen’s design assistant, Li Yan wanted to come along and gain some experience.
Jiang Chan had already informed Liang Chen, who was at home waiting for Zhao Bingyue. Liang Chen still had a deep impression of Zhao Bingyue, she was a great modeling candidate.
As for that, Liang Chen hadn’t said it out loud. She’d wait to see Zhao Bingyue in person before commenting. It had been over a year since they last met. Who knew if the girl had, as rumored online, lost her looks.
When Jiang Chan brought Zhao Bingyue in, Liang Chen’s eyes lit up. Without saying much to Jiang Chan, she pulled Zhao Bingyue straight into her studio.
After recording all of Zhao Bingyue’s body measurements, Liang Chen smiled. “You’ve got excellent proportions. It would be a waste for you to work here as an assistant.”
If Jiang Chan didn’t understand Liang Chen at first, she did now, especially after seeing the look in Liang Chen’s eyes while she took measurements.
“You mean Bingyue could become a model?”
Jiang Chan glanced at Zhao Bingyue’s long limbs. She still looked a bit lost.
“Exactly. I just measured her. She’s 178 cm tall, with measurements of 84, 60, 90. Her proportions are ideal. This is one of the best body measurements I’ve seen.”
Liang Chen patted Zhao Bingyue’s shoulder. “With a figure like yours, you should be modeling. And your face photographs well, very structured.”
“You’ve also got a unique aura. That kind of presence will make you stand out in a crowd.” The more Liang Chen thought about it, the more viable the idea seemed. She was already considering where to introduce Zhao Bingyue for work.
Zhao Bingyue was a little excited by her words, but quickly came back to her senses. “Auntie, I’m just looking for a summer job to earn tuition. Modeling feels too far-fetched.”
Li Yan patted her shoulder. “Are you dumb? If you become a model, forget next semester, your tuition for the next few years would be covered. Your mom won’t have to work so hard, right?”
Liang Chen smiled. “Don’t think modeling is that far from your reach. You really have potential. How about this, come with me later. I’ll take you to meet a designer friend of mine. She’s got a show next month. You can follow her and observe.”
“Even if you don’t end up modeling, she’ll need assistants. There’s a lot of prep work for a fashion show, and you’ll definitely find a suitable summer job.”
Since Liang Chen had already arranged the afternoon, Jiang Chan quietly slipped out. She didn’t need to follow along. With Liang Chen there, what was there to worry about?
Sure enough, by noon the girls’ group chat was buzzing. Li Yan snapped a photo of Zhao Bingyue practicing her runway walk. In the photo, Zhao Bingyue looked cold and imposing, completely untouchable.
Jiang Chan glanced at it and set her phone aside. It looked like Liang Chen’s designer friend had taken a liking to Zhao Bingyue, and she’d already started training. If Zhao Bingyue walked the runway this time, Jiang Chan was confident she’d take off.
Summer break came quickly. Zhao Bingyue had officially started as a trainee model under Liang Chen’s friend. Li Yan, ever the gossip, eagerly took on the role of her assistant.
It suited her. She was sharp, quick-witted, and always in the know. Her presence also made Zhao Bingyue’s mom feel at ease.
Liang Chen had high hopes for the duo. Their personalities complemented each other well. If Zhao Bingyue became famous, Li Yan could serve as her agent and they could start preparing now.
Shen Yu’s family wasn’t short on money, and they owned a company. During the summer vacation, Shen Yu was dragged into the company by her father. With Jiang Chan as a ready-made example, Shen Yu’s father said this:
“I’m not asking you to be as outstanding as Jiang Chan, but at the very least, you should understand what needs to be understood. Don’t end up being someone who sees but remains blind!”
Because of that one line, Shen Yu had to cancel her plans to tag along with Zhao Bingyue and instead became a tearful errand girl at the company.
Yes, an errand girl. Did Shen Yu really think her dad would give her a senior position when she knew nothing? Don’t kid yourself.
Mo Xingyu went to play at her grandmother’s house. As for Song Yifei, she successfully joined Jiang Chan’s company as an intern. She was studying marketing, and Jiang Chan deliberately threw her into the sales department for training.
Hearing Manager Gao’s feedback that Song Yifei was doing a decent job, Jiang Chan felt relieved and stopped focusing on these matters.
Right now, her main concern was Qin Miao. The time when the original owner became addicted to drugs wasn’t far off. She wasn’t sure if Qin Miao would make the same choices again.
Now the original owner’s memories could only serve as a reference. They could no longer be fully trusted, because too many variables had changed, and things had diverged significantly from what the original owner remembered. Of course, all of this was thanks to Jiang Chan.
